On behalf of Navy, Army and Air Force, Defence Member and Family Support offers a broad range of programs and services to help Defence families manage the military way of life.
Information
Services
- 24 hour support - Defence Family Helpline staffed by qualified human service professionals including social workers and psychologists
- Social work services - DMFS social workers can help Defence families address personal, relationship or Service related issues. They provide assessment, short-term counselling services or referral to support and resources in the local community
- Education - Regional Education Liaison Officer gives education support to Defence families as they move around the country, providing information, advice, referral and specialised assistance
- Advice, assistance and practical support to members and their families in relation to military matters provided by Military Support Officers
- Advice and information about the local community and assistance to find resources or services that best suits the needs of Defence families is provided by the Family Liaison Officer
- Partner Employment Assistance Program (PEAP) - provides funding towards initiatives to assist ADF partners with the immediate difficulties of finding employment when the member is relocated on posting.
- Family Support Funding Program - provides grant funding to community organisations who can deliver support and services of value to Defence families and the community they live in
