The aim of Connecting Up's Volunteer Program is to support SAcommunity whilst simultaneously allowing our volunteers to see more clearly the skills they have and that they bring to us, by having a platform and forum where they can express their ideas for the service and demonstrate their talents together in a supportive team environment.

Our volunteers proactively use their abilities and those they learn from each other and share with us to support their local community in a meaningful way through the directory service.

More than anything, our volunteers run this service and we are all so proud and we are always excited to know that this works when we receive feedback such as the following:

"It is always a cherished moment in my life working with you and Connecting Up. The experience and the skills I gained are so rewarding. I really appreciate your guidance on everything. Thanks to the SAcommunity team for giving me this opportunity." - Nirupmana Amarakoon

Thank you back volunteers, we couldn't run this without you.

Sophie Hood's Story >>here
Sophie has volunteered with Connecting Up since January 2017 whilst studying Mechatronic Engineering at Adelaide University. She initially started with the SAcommunity team in research and customer service, to assisting with training volunteers in-person before creating process flowcharts in Visio and elearning modules in Camtasia to assist the new volunteers. Brooke Lloyd (not pictured)
Brooke started volunteering for Connecting Up in September 2019 at the end of her double degree in Media and Arts at the University of Adelaide. She updated services and wrote an engaging  article on Xmas pageants for SAcommunity's media before moving into full-time paid work a few months later. Fortunately for us, Brooke responded to a call to Connecting Up Alumni to assist in updating services affected by the Bushfires and to volunteer offsite for us on weekends and then to support us again during COVID-19. Thank you Brooke.
